I'm That Guy!!
Sorry for the title dont know how to explain it...
My Female False Percula Clown has almost like a white haze on her side... It is on her orange area right behind the middle bar... It is not spots like Ich is just a white film almost... Any ideas, Trying to get pics but real difficult... They are eating like mad men and are active as can be...

Dream

Also wanted to mention that my female fish has been swimming around for the last two weeks with her fins held in... My male has all of its fins out and looks great, she looks like she is trying to be more aero dynamic in the water... Is it a concern or not...

TIA

I would be concerned about brooklynella since they are clownfish, especially if they are new and you don't quarantine.

I have been doing a lot of reading on brooklynella... It says that fish get lethargic, dont eat, gasp for air at the top of tank, and it starts at the head ( white film) and moves outward... My clown has it on her rear and shows no signs of lethargy and she is eating a lot... Is there anything else to try before Quarantine... Plus my other clownfish shows no signs of White Film...

How long before it spreads, it has been like this for 3 days and no signs of progression...

Dream

Ok I went ahead and out them into quarantine... The only med I have right now is Organi-Cure... I will be picking up something tomorrow when my LFS opens up... Any suggestions or is Organi-Cure ok for now...

Should I do a Formalin Dip?

I dipped mine in formalin? I am in this exact situation, one healthy, the smaller one and the other labored breathing, but not eating. Also added some formalin to the QT tank.

do a formalin dip every 3 days for 3 treatments.

Ok I will do a formalin Dip as soon as I can find some... Ken123 I have found that they eat mysis and brine better than anything else even when sick... give it a try..

Good article, thanks. So depending on how bad of shape the fish is in, and 3 dips does it's job, how long before the fish should recover? I have 1 more dip to do and the fish right now is not eating and is swimming in one spot and still has labored breathing. Been feeding pellets.

What is the percentage of the formalin you are using? What dose are you using? Have you been aerating the dips? How many days apart do you use a dip? What is the water temperature?

Terry B

It's by Kordon and says less than 3%. I use the ratio on the bottle which is 2 teaspoons per gallon for the dip. Keep the fish in there for 50 minutes. Have to get a small pump and stone, so I watch the fish for the entire time and see if there is any change in behavior. Every other day, tonight is the 3rd time. Water temp = 75-80%.

Not sure what dose two teaspoons translates to, but I use formalin from the drug store and it is 37%.

Hey guys, I did a formalin dip yesterday... I am using 37% and added 10 drops per gallon... The fish seemed to only have one or two small spots left... I am hoping to do another one here soon and hopefully they recover... They are swimming in one corner of the tank now, I think it is from stress... Wich me luck...
