Clownfish Wanting to Spawn

I have a big maroon clownfish that I've had for a couple of years now that seems very healthy. Starting a couple weeks ago I noticed some odd behavior... it started kind of lingering in a certain area of my tank at the bottom, kind of doing its clown thing, but buffering around the sand and forming sort of a crater.

A hobbyist friend of mine stopped by one day and I asked him to look and see what he thought, and he said it looked to him like she was nesting.

Now here's the thing, she's the only clownfish I have in this tank.

What should I do? Should I get another clownfish for her? If so how would I know what to buy?

Pairing up maroons can be a tough and deadly battle, but it definitely can be done. You want to try and find a small maroon that has not changed sex yet or is a male.

The larger fish will likely beat the crap out of the new fish for quite a while, and may kill it. Not much you can do put provide refuge areas. If you are lucky, one day you will notice the fighting has stopped, and not they seem to be side by side. Having a BTA in the tank, imo, helps greatly in the process.

I used a wide mouth 1 litre bottle with holes in it. Put the juvi in it. Make one of the large for him to squeeze through. Always double bag dip when temperature acclimating. If u notice female agression, hold off on the larger hole until it stops. Always ask about returns cuz u might need to exchange.

If there is aggrestion I would read how DFS paired up their McCulloch's Clownfish.Very simple acutlly.Worked on my Tomatos.
