Maybe it's a fasion statement? Looks to me like your marroon is trying to pull off the Hellboy look with those red eyes and mean goatie... but seriouslly, that makes me feel a bit better knowing that your's has the same thing as mine and is fine.
Thanks!

i always worry a little bit about it, it gets larger and smaller. I dont know if its a fungus or not. For the longest time i thought it was tumor. in these pics its about the size of my pinky nail, and thats the largest i have seen it

I checked on it this morning before I left for work, and most of the white is gone now, now its just red..sort of like when we were kids and picked our scabs off...

awesome. yours now that i look at it a little closer is a heck of a lot smaller than what mine has. hopefully it doesnt come back.

Yeah I hope not... I'll just keep an eye on it I guess. In other news I saw my Blue Legged Hermits picking at one of my turbo snails this morning... I was a bit rushed though so I didn't have time to get it out. Hopefully it doesn't decompose too much by the time I get home!

Just a quick update for everyone, I'm happy to say that the sore on this little guy went down ALOT over the weekend..now it's just reduced to a little red dot...looks kind of like a scab now.

Likely a fungal growth. You can remove it with tweezers if it starts to interfere with eating or you just do not like the look. It will likely not go away.....like the one on the Maroon clown, but sometimes they do. I have seen this on clownfish more than any other. I removed a large similar growth from my parent's true perc and it never came back. I simply pulled it off with tweezers and gave a Epsom salt soak.

Patrick12, how did you go about getting the clown held down to get tweezers at him..and epsom salts?? I would like to know more about this process...

yeah defintiely let me know how to get rid of this. I have had this clown for 5+ years. Just pull them out hold her down and rip it off? this thing is the size of my pinky nail.

in the perc it doesn't sound like fungus. Fungus is usually cotton like. It sounds like he is getting better so as long as it keeps getting better and he is eating I would just let it be.

However, the maroon looks like fungus however odd that it has been so long without getting worse. I treat in a qt tank with Fungus Clear by Jungle.

It actually started out looking somewhat like the maroon clown's did...all cottony like. But yes it is getting better and he is eating... This morning he was actually swimming all around his tank checking everything out like he used to...so hopefully I'm in the clear.

One of my clowns had something similar to yours but not nearly as large, was determined to be Lymphocystis. Basically a fish wart, went away in a few weeks & has not returned. Look it up on wetwebmedia.com
