Clownfish won't host in BTA

Finally picked up a nice green bta for my clown who has claimed a mushroom colony as its host. I put the bta in yesterday and he still has showed no interest in it. I kno they won't always use the bta but is there any way to coax him to use it?

Have you tried playing some Barry White? :)

:lmao: I may try this next!!!!

maybe just gently guide them over? or.. just give it some time.. she will find her way over.. maybe.

I've had a clown pair just shy of 2 years. bought them with a PLTA. they have never associated with my nemmie.
They like to think that the heater in my tank is their host!! :spin2:

First off, what type of clown? Second they may never host it...or they may host it at some random time. Unless the nem is its natural host, its really just a crap shoot. Took my oscelaris pair almost 6 months before they decided to host my xenia after they had made the overflow their home. Meanwhile I had 3 BTAs in their..then the female moved to my torch which was about 4 inches from the BTAs. She just started hosting the BTAs about 2 months ago though she still visits the torch.

Bottom line is...nothing you can really do but wait and see especially if it isn't their natural host. They are 'clowns' for a reason lol

MY b/w clowns hosted a GBTA within a week..Although i never tired..some people put there BTA and clown in a small tank together for a few days and that helped the hosting process and others even attached a pic of a clown hosting a bta on the outside of the tank.. its a hit or miss..good luck

Any way to take out that mushroom colony, even temporarily? Maybe even put a net over it for a few days. If you deprive the clown of the mushroom, it may go for the BTA. Absence makes the heart grow fonder........for another!!!

Try it. Both nems and clowns do better when they host each other. Cuter, too!

Give it time. Took about 4 months for clowns to host to a bta. They weren't hosting to anything else either. I think one day as one of them was swimming by it got caught up in the tentacles and thought that it may make a great home.

The clownfish I used to have in my 60 gallon tank never payed any attention to my RBTA. They decided to make a large frogspawn their home. The two clownfish that I have now in my 20 gallon tank are really loving a small patch of GSP. Go figure...
