Clownfish worm?

After feeding my clownfish had what appeared to be a long white streamer coming from it's underbelly. This was several centimeters long but has now disappeared. I fear something is wrong, perhaps tapeworm or something.

Does anyone know what might be happening, and if there is a way to treat it?

Maybe fish poo?Alot of times if its long and white it can be a sign of internal parasites so treating with a dewormer in a qt may be a good idea..just a guess though.

Thanks Rockymtreefer, I was almost reassured but something's not passing properly so I 'm going to have to treat. I read up a bit on wormers, and it seems they are risky for the fish. I don't seem to have a choice though.

If I can quarantine my fishes could whatever it is persist in the tank? It seems that meds will kill inverts, I have only snails - should I remove these instead?

I have used prazipro in my display .Prazipro is a good safe dewormer. The only effects i saw to my tank was it killed all worms including fan worms and bristle worms and some corals had the colors fade for a bit.The inverts in my tank including snails and shrimp seemed to be fine and i did not lose any.I have never seen any problems to the fish itself with this medication. The other option is to try and get the fish to eat pellets with praziquantel in them that i think jungle makes.I however have never used them so i can not tell you how well they work. The best solution is to remove affected fish and treat in a qt so you dont have to treat in your display. If you do treat in your display you must turn off skimmer as well while treating.
