hey people hope u are having a great day !
I need some direction on my clowns. I have two tank raised false percs . I bought them as a pair about three weeks ago , not a mated pair by the way just two that had been placed together for some short time. Well one has become larger and darker in color , female , I guess . That one also nips and roughs the other one up a bit , not extreme and no damage , they stay together most of the time so i assume this nipping does not bother the smaller one . I noticed this morning the smaller guy had dug up a decent sized hole in the sandbed , he was working on it pretty hard when i came down to check everything out. I also noticed what looked like a mock mating ritual , no eggs were laid but female went over a rock several times then the male did the same lasted about 5 min. I guess i need to know are these signs of mating or are they just clowns being clowns ? What are signs of mating?

That might be mating behavior. The clownfish forum is the best place to look for information on your fish, though.

that is both mating ritual and normal behaivior clowns however do pair quickly if they tolerate eachoter they are pretty much a pair my maroon keeps a spot under her nem cleaned down to the glass

these are the first clowns i have ever kept and love them. It's crazy how much personality they have.

I went to my lfs to buy one maroon and wound up buying the pair of false percs. I have already got it in my mind to get the maroons for a small tank and my wife wants two in her office !

maroons need a bigger tank in my opinion than true and false percs also my maroons are not socialble my rodonyx are quite friendly

in my opinion you cant have two many pairs of clowns i am definetly looking into a 14g biocube for another set of clowns i want a jigsaw/snowflake pair or a snowflake /ora black

what would be a fairly hardy anoneme that false percs would take to ? If such a thing exist . The ones that I have read about are very delicate and hard to keep alive for any length of time. What if an anoneme dies will it upset the clown/clowns?

it could kill the whole tank i would try a bubble tip they are the easiest to keep
