Clowns doing laps around tank all day

Just picked up a pair of bonded MochaVinci Clownfish. I temperature acclimated them as well as drip acclimated for a 1 1/2 hours. Once in the tank they have been rapidly swimming together back and forth from one corner to the other for the past 5 hours.

Is this normal? I feel like they are going to burn out soon.

Tank is a SCA 50G, temp: 78, Salinity: 1.025, pH: 8.11, Alk: 8.9, Calc: 420, Mag: 1400, Ammona: 0, Nitrate: 0

Those are the only two fishes. Besides that I have a torch, frogspawn, RBTA, Zoas, recorders, and duncans

Maybe it's stress from the move and them exploring their new environment.


Though , I've seen clowns swim like crazy Maniacs against the water flow of a power head once ... ( a bit like Achilles tangs do) but they had cryptocarion and we figured going straight into the water flow felt good on their itchy skin. Stopped as soon as the parasites were in check.

Actually that was an oxygenation issue.

Really ?! It was in a store with DAS system with gigantic canister filters... When we isolated the tank to treat and plugged the u.v on it the cryptocarion disappeared and the behaviour as well. No need to say the flow and oxygenation was lesser in the quarantined tank than when it was on open circuit.

Lol! I just re read that , you meant for the Achilles no doubt it's an oxygenation issue!

So the pair is swimming normal now, but they haven't eaten for the past four days. I tried New Life Spectrum, Hikari Marine S, and Mysis Shrimp.

I noticed today that the Female clown pooped a long white string. I'm guessing this is a sign of internal parasite? I went ahead and started treating the tank with PraziPro. Is there anything else I should do to treat the clowns? They are the only fishes in the tank along with some LPS and mushrooms.

So update on the MochaVinci clownfishes. The male unfortunately passed away. Fortunately the female is still alive and is starting to eat. Their skin looks flawless. Did not see any discoloration, white spots, bumps, or wounds. Might have been an internal parasite or starved to death. Not sure what happen really.

I'm still in love with this fish and its coloration. If in the future, I find the same type of clowns, would it be safe to add another pair for a total of 3?

clowns stress alot how young were they? you should also try out omega mini's something in it that fish love get em to eat fast and then wean them to nls most fish I have feed Nls in the past rejected it not to say they did not eat it just took a day or 2 of fasting on their part as they watched pellets fly past

Chances are two will pair off and the third will be mercilessly harassed until it is dead.

Ah, figure three is one too many! Guess I'll wait for a single one to appear.

I got this pair off Diver's Den. The male is about 1.75" and female about 2.25". They were already somewhat dosing off when I received them. They looked better once they were in the tank but just wasn't eating... It's a miracle the female is still alive. Good news is the female is now eating more and more everyday.

...now to get her to host my BTA!
