clowns first or last

Been getting mixed answers in my search. some say since clown fish are aggressive put then in first. some say they are territorial so put them in last.
maybe the answer isnt definite.

i plan on having a red scooter, starry blenny, goby/shrimp combo, macasker wrasse and the two clowns.

also was thinking chalk bass school.
40gal breeder with 20gal sump.

Doesn't matter. I have added them first and last. No change in their behavior

OK cool. id rather get them last so i can save and get a pair of frostbite.

Does anyone know if a diamond watchman goby will pair with any shrimps?

Doesn't matter. Assuming a pair, they'll typically keep to themselves. Chalkies are awesome; have a trio in my reef tank. Mine have grown quite large (almost 3") so be forewarned.

I put a pair in first in my 29gal biocube and they never bothered any addition. Moved them to a 60 cube eventually and the female chases an orange back fairy wrasse but it's nothing serious. As others have said, they mainly keep to themselves.

If this is your first tank, I'd say put them in first. They are super hardy fish and will forgive a few mistakes you are bound to make.

Also, a red scooter dragonet is a tough fish to keep in a 40 gallon tank.

what kind of clowns?

if you're thinking percula/ocellaris, i would put them in whenever. i've had my A. percula pair for several years now. they were the first fish in the tank, and typically don't really care about any of the other fish i stock (assuming no conspecifics).
