is it wrong for your clowns to host frogspawn? if someone can clear this up for me if this is ok to do or if its bad that would be great. thanks in advanced.

As long as the frogspawn doesn't appear to care, it's perfectly fine. My true percs are hosted by my Sarcophyton. There're 4 perfectly good RBTA's in the tank and they chose the toadstool. No accounting for taste I guess :/

My little clown hosts in my frogspawn, but it had been in the same tank with the same coral for about a year and a half before it finally decided to host. There are no anemones in my tank except for 2 or 3 large aiptasia.

yea i have 2 false percs and i really like the way frogspawn looks, the contrast of the orange clowns and the bright green coral looks so good to me.

Our clowns hosted a torch, but become so rough on it (percs) that they actually killed it. The same could happen to a frogspawn and hammer

As of now, my ocellaris clowns host in my frogspawn. When I bought the frogspawn (about 9-12 months ago), it only had two heads and the clowns hosted in my torch with 6-7 heads. Now that the frogspawn has about 8 or 10 heads, the clowns prefer it.

Actually, I think the frogs, torches and hammers are easier to keep and are often in better condition from the average LFS, so they make a great substitute for anemones. The corals just have to be large enough and not be stressed by aggressive hosting. I guess I would not recommend LPS for hosting larger clowns, but small ocellaris arent as forceful IME. I went through 4 anemones (most getting through the 'anemone proof' powerhead when I was out of town), before I went with a host that I could epoxy to the rockwork.
