Clowns hosting on a coral?

Hi, I am new to the saltwater/reef aquariums and am loving every minute of it! I'm just waiting for my cycle to finish in my new aqauarium and am planning on adding a pair of clownfish as well as several soft corals. I was wondering if clowns will host on a soft coral instead of an anenome? I know that my aquarium should be established at least 6 months before I even try keeping an anenome in the tank so I will wait for that. Has anyone had any success with this?

Its just a personal preference of mine, but technically the host would be the 'nem or other coral. But I will digress...

They will be hosted/host 'shrooms, gsp, frogspawn, xenia, heaters (mine at least do), kenya tree, etc.

Its natural for them and I think it makes them feel safer. However, I have seen pics of lesions or dark spots from a clown and frogspawn combo. Not sure if one had anyhting to do with the other and it was a freak incident, but something to keep an eye out for none the less.

Our clownfish host "live" in an ornamental bell in the tank. Go near it with your hands and expect to be bitten :P

They will go as far as pushing the blue mandarin out of the house if it wanders in :)

I have two allardi clown fish that hosted in my flowerpot coral...unfortunately the coral was too small for the two of them and it died....they loved it to death.
I know have a beautiful huge BTA but they are too scrared it seems to go near it...i'm hoping they will warm up to it...
good luck in your new tank...I just love it !

I have seen clouns hosted on frow span, hammer coral and hairy mushrooms. It not a rule than if you add a annemone they will host there
