Clowns in 140 gal.

I have 3 normal orange clowns, but was wondering if I could add 3 more of a different kind? Will they fight and the outcome be fatal?

I've asked the same question before and I've always been told sooner or later they will fight and you'll end up with a pair. A few others have said they've kept multiple clowns with zero issues. I decided to play it safe and only keep a pair in the same system.

I would advise against doing so. IMO, the only time keeping multiple clownfish is okay, is when they are all from the same hatch. Odds are that you will end up with a single pair once a pair bond is formed and they begin spawning. Best to keep one pair of clowns per tank.

You could do a group of clownfish. Keep it to percs and occies, and have one large female, one larger male, and a bunch of little males

I have tried 2 pair in a 240 8ft tank and it didn't work,I also tried a group and that also didn't work out.The largest becomeing female paired with a male and they tore into the rest.Fellow reefers have pulled it off,put it is mostly going to be down to just a pair per tank..

Eventually, your current three will become two when a pair forms. You will then have to remove the odd man out or it will be banished to a corner of your tank (best case scenario) or killed.

Also, if you still have a snowflake eel in this tank, none of these little clowns has great survival odds in the long run.

Properly housed, clowns can easily survive in captivity for a decade or more. You'll have a better chance of enjoying them for a long time if you stick with a pair and set them up in a different tank.
