Clowns rather host Xenia than RBTA?

Hey guys, I have a pair of false perculas that refuse to host in a rbta. They rather swim and sleep in the columns of xenia stalks. Is there a way for me to have them go to the rose anenome, or just let them live among the xenia. Thanks

Be glad they show any hosting behaviors at all. Most people who buy them, the only thing they'll host in or next to is a heater.

Like what psimitry said, be happy that they are exhibiting this kind of behavior, and there is nothing wrong with it! I've seen plenty of cases where Clownfish pick Softies such as Xenia to host with, especially if they are tank bred and used to reef tanks. Just be glad they haven't found a cave to hide from you!

anyone see the pic here on RC of the false perc hosting a seaweed clip? that was classic.

i had a couple of false percs who hosted my heater. so i got some maroons and they very rarely leave my green BTA. good luck with you perc's.

i also have some false percs that took my xenia over a bta. I think its pretty cool. i have heard that a lot of the time the wont go in anything at all.

ya dont be too bummed, i bet over time they may shoot over to the rbta but even if they dont at least u dont have to worry about not getting a good view, u can move xenia, anemones (as u know) move and could go to a side or the back and ull barely see em. Mine took some menuvering, as u can see in my FTS in the "new RBTA" thread i got her to sit RIGHT in front of the glass for good viewing

If you want something to host a BTA, go with maroons. Its freaky how fast they'll sniff one out. Seriously within seconds of putting one in my tank, they'll be in it.

My Sebae started hosting my carpet in about half a day too...but I don't know if it would have taken to the BTA had there been no carpet, or no maroons in the BTA.

I was dumb enough to do that bureau13. I purchased a maroon two weeks ago hoping that it would host the rbta. Did not think that the false perculas would mind. But sadly, i had to put the maroon in my 55 gallon sump. Hopefully when I upgrade to my 180, all shall be fine.

That has been my experience, too.

It was probably vice versa. Maroons are not known to 'play well with others'.
