Clowns won't host :(

Hello,

I have a pair of Ocellaris Clownfish. I recently purchased a BTA (3 months ago) and my clowns will go nowhere near it. Is there a way to help convince them to host?

Also, what are you guys feeding your clowns. I am feeding mine Mysis and want to add some variety to there diet.

Thanks,
Bryan N.

Clowns usually arent picky eaters. You could try pretty much any flakes, pellets, or frozen food. Mine eat emerald entree, formula 1 or 2, cyclopeeze, mysis, spirulina enriched brine shrimp, nori, and prime reef.

As far as hosting patience is probably your best bet, but there is no guarantee that they will ever host in it. You could try target feeding near the anemone daily. That might help them notice it. I notice you have a damsel. I would keep an eye on it, I had a domino damsel that tried to chase my small clown out of an anemone.

This pic is from when I first received the nem. It is a little larger now and has found a home in the middle of my tank on some rocks.

The clowns are about 2.5in long.

You can try Rod's too, my Ocellaris are definately not pickey, they eat anything offered. My clowns hosted a hairy mushroom and ingored my rose anemone. It too them about 9 months to finally host, I had all but given up. Try squirting their food ( thawed frozen) into and near the anemone, that will at least bring them close and who knows it may help. It is just a matter of time or there is a chance they won't host. I have never heard of a fool proof method to make them host. Be patient and have faith : )
