Club DFS/ Salt Order

Ok guys... Heres the skinny... Been on the phone with DFS for the past hour or so... I was surprised at how much freight was going to cost... It took DFS almost a week to give me a quote... I have placed the order for all of the other dry goods, and it was upgraded to 2 day air at no additional costs to the club since they took so long to reply... So all goods except for Mel's arragonite will be here Friday so that I can bring them to the meeting on Saturday...

Freight is going to be $269.40...

That comes out to $11.71 extra per bucket... Or approximately $44 per bucket total shipped...

This is still less than other vendors...

It is my recommendation that we proceed with this order... However if you want to drop out, I understand and will refund your salt money...

I am going to check with the BOD and see if we can't drop that figure any with some club assistance...

Thanks,
Randy

Oh, and I called Don to see how much he could have it shipped freight for and he came up with $423... So in perspective $270 is a good rate...

If you have 2+ buckets, it will be cheaper to order on your own and pay the published shipping rates. I've done that for up to 2 buckets w/o a penalty; those wanting 5 buckets may be charged an overweight fee.

Randy,
Have you asked Dave at the Coral Reef how much he could get the salt for?
It might be easier for them to get it shipped to them and make a little $ too at that cost.
I know Ebay and the Critter used to get salt for "club rates" and it was usually $40 - $45 a bucket if we commited for so many.
I'm in if we decide to go ahead and open to other options as well.
thanks, Chris

I sent Dave a PM, and will call tomorrow if I don't hear back from him tonight...

I've already contacted a few other vendors and DFS beats them all by $5-$15 per bucket shipped... We might be better off dissolving this order and just taking advantage of the special 2 buckets at a time on our own...

Wow what a headache. Whatever is easier for you Randy since you have been playing phone tag with them. So if we DISSOLVE the salt order (sorry someone had to) you refund us the difference of our salt buckets and we order it ourselves. How much do they charge for 2 buckets? Is it something like $16.

Chris if you are reading this, you are wasting valuable study time. Get back to your notes.

you can cancel my bucket of salt...you can still get the 160g buckets of instant ocean at petsmart for $36, or the 58# buckets of oceanic for $40? no shipping. all you have to do is print out the online ad and take it into the petsmart. they honor their online prices.

Tonight was an off night....I just wasn't feeling it. I got through diabetic ketoacidosis and polyuria/polydipsia....meant to get through hyper and hypo thyroidism as well. Oh well, guess I'll do that tommorrow:)

Randy, I am fine with whatever you guys decide. But why the heck is my aragonite held up? Dang it. I need my ding dang aragonite.

It would have cost an extra $60 to ship your arragonite Air... Its coming, its just coming ground... :) Will likely be here by Tuesday... Is that ok???

Ok... Well, I'll give you a bag of playsand and then take yours... :D

Better???

CR can do $55 per bucket, must be paid for upfront...

NO...I need the larger grain stuff...not your fine-grained, silica-containing POS sand. What...are you trying to give me an outbreak of hair algae with all that phosphate???

I've got some sand from my 125 in my back yard... I can shovel some of it in a bucket if you like... It should be good and rinsed from all the rain by now... ;)

Garry~ You coming to the meeting???
