The project is to drill Franks 120 established tank while filled. We had a pre-drill meeting two weeks ago and Frank said lets go for it. Frank had over the back plumbing and has had three floods so far. This makes me nervous lets get it done.

The tank was drilled with a $10 set of Tool Shop diamond drill bits and a Craftsman cutting tool. Cooling was provided with a garden sprayer. The cut was done in less then an hour but getting ready took a long time. Thick glass cuts much better then thin and there was not a chip on the inside or out. The guys did a great job with this one.

Nice job Jim. It was quite the experience to see. Am glad that everything worked out for Frank. It's too bad that Boomer was in such a bad mood;)

Nice job boyz! Wish I could have made it. Awesoime looking tank Frank. Hopefully we'll make it back there fo another meeting!!

Thanks to everyone for the help in drilling the tank. I think that the two man drill team did a great job!
And everything is doing well no leaks and everything in the tank is doing well also.
I had a great time have everyone over and the all the words of encouragement like,
What corals do I want to take home when the tank cracks or did you call in your order on your new tank? But now that it is done I can go hunting and not be thinking of the tank over flowing and trying to tell Mary you need to suck on this little tube to get the overflow to stat up again.
Thanks again.

Hay Jim I have the baulk heads for you maybe I can drop them off to you tomorrow ? Also I found some cal in a bag whose is it?

wow seems like a diamond hole saw would save alot of time...only takes like 5min to drill a hole (with out beers  )

wondering....why was the hole drilled on the side? too close to wall?

Yea a hole saw would have been better but we just used what we had and the bits are cheap.

The reason that the tank was drilled in the end was because we could not get behind the tank.

As the one who drilled the hole I can tell you it was a tight fit where I did have to cut it. Also we were dealing with a filled tank and didn't want to chance breaking it so I took my time. All the beer breaks were to rest my arms, I have a medical condition in my upperbody that makes it hard to do things but it was fun to do. Also we were dealing to tools we have worked with in the past to practice with so we were fimilar with them.

Looks like you did good job Rob! I know who to call when i need a tank drilled:D

Do you have anymore pics of the tank Frank?
