In efforts to not have a "dead forum" and to let non-members know about what we have going on we will try and post regular updates here, as well as on our other forum and via e-mail.

Our March meeting is planned for the Saturday 22nd.
Details are still being worked out and we are hopeful for a behind the tank tour at the Shedd, otherwise it will be a LFS tour of Sho Tank and Sea Schor.

Speaking of LFS we have been offered a 10% discount at our newest LFS and one that is kind of close and well worth the 45 minute trip. Midwest Reef Supply is growing fast, they are now the only store front distributer of Marco Rocks, you can go in and check the stuff out in person, some great rock for sure. I think this store will be big trouble for me as it is kind of on the way home from work and I can not just stop by, I always stop and buy.

Also Custom Aquatics sent us an on-line discount code for members. While their site is a bit tuff to surf, they have a great selection on good prices so if you did not get the code in the last e-mail, be sure to let me know.

I think that is it for now.

Nothying yet, I am following up on that soon. Based off of last year, the family is welcome and it was $10 a person. I belive that will be the same this year.

Got this from my "other" club :)

SHEDD Aquarium - “Behind the Scenes” tour

& aquarium visit! - Sunday, March 30, 2008

CMAS will host an awesome “Behind the Scenes” Tour of Shedd Aquarium on Sunday, March 30, 2008. For club members and their families, this is a great opportunity to spend some quality time at one of the World’s foremost aquarium AND see what goes on behind the public viewing areas. This is a repeat of our 2007 tour those people who couldn’t make it last May.

In addition to the behind the scenes tour, Shedd fisheries department will show us a special Shark presentation. Of course, you’ll have full access to all public exhibits areas after the tour.

This event is being planned in conjunction with our neighbor clubs in Joliet, Rockford, Central IL and Wisconsin, so space is limited and will be RSVP only. The cost will be $10 per person. We will meet at the Shedd at 8:30 and the program will begin promptly at 9:00 AM. Note that a few of the back areas are temporarily closed due to a construction project.

To RSVP, please contact on of the following people:

For CMAS members, contact Boyd Corbett via PM or email

For Joliet area & BNARC reef club members, please contact Valerie Burns

For Rockford Reefers, please contact Rob Topper

For WRC members, please contact Anthony Martinez

We will post the final details on the CMAS website as soon as we have them. If you have not yet signed on, please go to www.cmas.net

If the Shedd tour is on March 30th, will we still have a meeting on the 22nd? Or does the Shedd tour count as the meeting?

I believe the shed tour is going to be the meeting. I hope to have Aprils meeting planned in the next week.
