CO2 injection

I had a freshwater tank with live plants running for 3 years prior to switching over to saltwater. In order to keep the plants happy in a hyperfast growing freshwater aquarium co2 had to be injected to offset the oxygen given off by the plants otherwise the plants wouldn't grow(or even die). One of the main components of all plants is carbon. By monitoring and holding steady the PH a CO2 sys automatically added gas during the lighting schedual.
NOW...with the coral reef setup I've noticed PH swings during the lighting schedual 8.3 when the lights first come on and 8.6 by the time they switch off. This would lead me to believe the corals are using CO2 and giving off oxygen which make the fishies happy.
Would the corals benifit/grow faster from addition of CO2 to the aquarium setting the ph to 8.4?
I'm using MH lights with salinity=1.025 magnesium=1350 alkalinity=3.5 meq/L Calcium=430.
