co2 injection

Could someone enlighten me how you add c02 to phytoplankton cultures?
adding it to the air bubbling through the containers seems like an awful waste since most of it would go into the air
Does anyone know how they do it on a commercial scale?

Just as you said... bubble it via airstone into your culture.

I don't know and am just speculating. Please tell me if I am wrong.

If you just used rigid airline most of the co2 would go into the air

A fine bead glass air stone might be a little better but I still think most of the co2 would go into the air
and the smaller bubbles would cause the phyto to stick to the air water interface in a skimming type action

Also how do you implement this on a small scale? We use 5 gallon carboys.

I imagine you would want a pH controller on each culture vessel. or can you assume they are all similar and use just one controller?

Can you get by without a controller and just spot checking?

Do you inject the co2 into the air used for aerating the phytoplankton or add it separately?

If you have used co2 injection:
What kind of difference does it make in algae production
Did you use a pH controller (for each vessel)?
