Not a bad idea, the main send is exactly above the sump. Good suggestion!

Both my tanks are in the basement. The big one has a surface area of roughly 36 sq/ft and is open to the air.
The temp down there right now is around 54F
I just add a couple of extra heaters in the tank and it maintains 78 just fine.
My 125 gal Discus tanks needs no extra heaters but they do stay on a lot more to maintain 80F

I added a clear acrylic cover to the frag tank and it seems to help quite a bit. More than enough light gets through (250watt radium) for the frags.

Low tonight will be -6. Friekin A. Looks like this weekend might finally warm up.
I turned off my basement lights and started emptying cans of expanding foam wherever I could see light.
