Indeed. I wish i had the money to shell out for PMs on all of my most favorite messageboards, but I dont. And even now, at 1 in the morning Eastern time on a monday night, no search *shrug* Its a small price to pay to have RC anyway.

always a pleasure when you share with us steve...uh, mr. weast. your tank in ult aquariums was the tank that turned me on to reefs in the first place then ur 850 just left me awstruck. i am actually looking to set up a slightly less temperate tank to try a blackfoot/ blue fin lionfish. thats what led me to this thread. ur tanks definately give me hope and insperation.

Your tanks have always been an inspiration and I thank you for sharing. I liked your 850 so much that I copied the idea (umm, only 795 gallons smaller ... without the fish room ... and corals ... and fish ... and lights ... and equipment

i have to admit i used your website and your philosophy alot when i did my own tank. i couldn't quite hide all my equipment, but i was definately aspiring to try to get close you what you were going for.

Any one ever do a cold water tank with native species from Canada?

i am in Nova Scotia an always toyed with the idea of a native species tank!

Very impressive coldwater display -- and made even more impressive by the work you put in to locate these specimens. I did manage to spot a catalina goby in one of those pics I'm originally from CA and have a dream of someday setting up a proper tank for my favorite fish: the garibaldi.

I have a logistical question for you: When you do water changes, how do you make sure that the new incoming water doesn't warm the system? Is it added slowly so the chiller can keep up?

Isn't the Garibaldi damselfish considered illegal to own in captivity? I was speaking with a fellow saltwater aquarist near me and he told me he only saw one in an aquarist's office actually (illegally) and said he could face fines if he's caught.

It is a beautiful fish though. Never seen a complexion of yellow like that before.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, the tap water is very cold since it is primarily sourced from surface snow melt. It's temp is about 45 F in winter and 55 F in summer. This cold tap temp cuts my RO production by about half from the unit's stated production rate.
