Colleges and coral reefs

Hi im new to the forum. obviously i used to read every post never registered until i need your help! I know i know its bad but im in need hah. Im going to college in the fall of 2010 and i should be applying to college soon but i really want to apply to colleges in a very close perimiter to reefs. I would love to dive and snorkel on my free time and i have posted this for you guys and girls to help me find a college near reefs. I prefer the US but other countries could help as well. I would like to look for warmer water reefs ( as those in the majority of ours). I would like the names of the colleges so i could research them as to i am very clueless. I have a 4.11 and a 1950 sat with many other aspects supporting my application so i do not see why i should not need to apply. I appreciate all the help. Thankyou!

There's a million billion colleges down here in South FL that are all minutes from the beach. I believe that the only "reefs" to dive/snorkel on in the US are centered around FL, though I know there are reefs elsewhere, just deeper/cooler water reefs all up the US seaboard.

I would limit choices on what major you're looking for and what you're looking to spend. FL public universities are some of the least expensive universities in the US, while the private ones are just as expensive as anywhere else in the US for the most part (other than Flagler up in St. Augustine).

I'm happy to help answer any questions I can, as I just graduated my undergrad from FSU, so I know a lot about colleges down in FL, and I'm from south FL originally, so I know the area and schools pretty well. Tell us your direction and major and whatnot, and we'll let you know what's good and what isn't.

Hey all great responses thanks for all the help =) i wanna get my masters in law but im real interested in marine biology aswell, im thinking private schools too but a public should be fine if it offers those fields of study thanks! im taking a look at those schools as we speak.

It sounds like you're doing your undergrad, so it doesn't matter where in the world you go for that. Heck, take a vacation in Hawaii, just keep your GPA up. You can go to UM for a J.D. or MS in Marine bio/sciences, as they've got a good marine sciences program and a decent law school.

I recommend more research.

I'd agree with the last poster. If you're planning on an advanced degree, then it is not too important where you go for undergrad. You just need to prove that you can do well in your field of study once you get there with a high GPA and high GRE/LSAT/etc. scores when applying to graduate schools. IMO, it's better to go to a somewhat lesser school and have a great GPA, than go to the best school with a lower GPA.

Ultimately, go somewhere that gives a good financial package and has the features you are looking for.
