Color balance

my camera isn't very good and every picture always turns out more blue than it really is because i am running a 14K bulb. the camera does not have color balance for me to adjust so i have to rely on the software to do the job. i am mainly using GIMP. does anyone know what would be a color balance option for the red/green/blue value of a 14K bulb? i have been trying different value but none of them work well. :(

thx for the help!

14000K is really high up there â€"œ most cameras and software do not go that high up in K (think my Nikon and Canon's can only go up to 10000K compensation). Therefore, you'll always have a bluish cast due to the +4000K. The best way I believe to deal with this is to use a daylight or yellow/green filter or to change the saturation levels in post processing software. If you have Photoshop CS2, Elements or Lightroom that would be pretty easy. I don't use “The Gimp”, but I am sure it can be done. Add a layer, fill it with a light orange/yellow and move down the opacity until it looks 'natural'. Alternatively, you can play with the saturation/hue levels to see what happens.

Hope that helps.
