Color change in balanos

I got these several years ago, two colonies who looked like this

(Sickly when I got it)

Now they look like this, the first colony has specks of orange and the other one has yellow centers, it's brighter in person

They have been kept under a cheapo led under cabinet light, I just moved them to a tank with power compacts and noticed.

They sure look great to me :thumbsup:

I've had NPC change/lose color when kept in just ambient room light for extended periods (6+ months) while still growing at an acceptable pace.

Those look great! Just curious, how large is the largest in the colony?

I'd say the biggest polyps are about 1.5 inches across

Good to know that color change happens, haven't really read/seen much about it and I guess under the crappy light it wasn't noticeable so I was surprised. I'm going to wait and see if the new lighting changes them back.
