maybe u are using different lighting from its orginial tank. either way its a very nice piece

Not my piece, wish it was. Just seeing what everyone else feels. Lighting in the first pic is 20k 400w radiums and the second is a 4 bulb t5.

feeding and water quality play an important role as well, however some coral will change color under the same light over time. Sweet piece BTW

lighting and water chemistry changes can cause a coral to change colors and even growth forms (growth change is more dependent on water flow)

like every one said it all depends on your lighting plus chalice change colors most of the time unless you have the exact same water lights and set up as the tank they had been in before imo

Ok the saturation on 2 is turned up some. However, I still think 1 would sell for as much as he was asking when he posted up the picture 2.

Anyone who's gotten a newly imported chalice and kept if for 6+ months can attest to the color change that occurs over that time. They start mostly as two maybe three colors and then over time the others develop. It takes a good eye to know what to look for but I've taken some $30-50 chalice corals from the lfs and they have turned into my favorites. As far as the photos you've posted they are the same coral under different lighting, with likely different cameras, and possibly some post photo processing. If you've been lucky enough to see one of these striped chalice colonies in person you can attest to why they command such high prices.

my mummy chalice was light pink under t5, now under halide its has turned blood red. looks better and the eyes florece even more

Yes the changes of color in chalices is a natural feature of their nature and you do not know how they will react to the lights.

I have a question. My tank has gotten leds and almost everything is becoming orange or green or blue. That is something that I do not like because it makes the tank more monotonous than iwas. It is always the same I buy something red (lobo, cinarina, chalice, etc.) and they start becoming orange and then a bit greenish and all the same color. If the piece is blue then the blue intensufy and if it is green the it becomes fluorecent green.

Do you have esperiences with leds and colors? It there any way to reverse the situation?
