Color fading in brown colors in corals. ..why?

The moment I put any dark brown coral it fades although it lives eg :

Daisy cloves were a nice brown after I added the brown started to fade now its pale brown.

Same with a torch the stems became pale brown.

Why is this. I dose ca, alk do wc once a month. Other corals r doing fine.

Ca, alk Are stable.....

Am I missing mg, iodine, strontium?

Bump. ...my daisy cloves and torch went from nice shiny dark brown to pale brown. .... why is this?

Is it too much light. I have 2 120w Chinese led pendants 6"above dt.

It is probably the amount of light. The brown coloration is due to the presence of zooxanthellate algae in the coral tissue. If the amount of light reaching the coral is such that the zooxanthellae are producing excess nutrients and oxygen, the coral may react by expelling the zooxsanthellae, by reducing polyp extension, and by production of protective pigmentation in the coral tissue. Try reducing your lights to see what happens, assuming you don't have sps that really need the high intensity light exposure.

You were right!
I raised my lights by few inches now coloration is back.

Yes some of the browns can be really amazing if they cover a large area.
