I have a 2.5 to 3 '' maroon clown that it's color has faded from bright red to a grayish to almost brown, it is eating very well. Other than color fading it seems fine .

I have had my maroon clown for around 2 1/2 years with no color fading. What do you feed the clown, and how old is it or at least how old do you think he is.

I am feeding it small pieces of krill, silver side, omega 1 flake food, approx age maybe 1 year old not sure.I have had it for about 2 months.

Can you post any pictures so we can see what you mean about the color? I don't think our eyes really perceive color the same from person to person so a picture would really help.

You could try possibly adding another food to the diet that is formulated to help color like ORA Glo or something similar, but without a pic its hard to tell if its just a weird color issue or perhaps something else that could be health related.

Not hosting anything yet, and is in a 20 L with 130 watt pcs, 2x65 50/50. New lights coming in friday, 250 mh that will be approx 10'' above the water.I have 3 gbtas coming next week.

I'm with chrisstie a picture would help us out. I'm leaning towards it's diet as a likely canidate but could be something else.
Does he have a good hiding place. Is your tank somewhat aggressive. Stress maybe a factor however my maroon lives a somewhat aggressive 90g reef with plenty of hiding places, I have never seen his color change or fade. Have you noticed a change in his swimming or his behavior?

It has been swimming close to the top alot, but breathing looks ok,there is plenty of places to hide. At night it stays above my power head. He is the only fish in the tank, so far. I will try to post pics this afternoon.
