Color Temp for SPS

Some colors do better under 6500K and some do better under 20,000K. Also, usually the only reason 6500K look like a "pee" color is because the water is a "pee" color not the bulb. If you do not keep up with your water chemistry then the 6500K bulbs will show it a lot sooner than the 20,000Ks.


There is some truth to this statement... acctually... there is alot of truth here...


people freak out to much about lighting and NOT ENOUGH about water quality.

Running carbon, having a VERY good skimmer and doing wc's frequently, AKA: having good water quality ... with lower Kelvin bulbs really IMO looks better than having a " dirtyer" tank with higher kelvin bulbs...

People just like the 20K's because there is an instant appeal to them... no mater the water quality.
