A new era is beginning with COMAS this year, new faces, new ideas and some new and old club officers. I will be your President and Tonya, last years treasurer will be my Vice President. The members interested in the Secretary and Treasurer offices did not make it to the meeting so I still need to know if they are interested in those positions or if someone else is willing to take up those roles.
I have not been in the club very long myself and though lately things have been a little hectic in my life, I currently have the time, ability, and knowledge to help direct the club. But deep down COMAS is your club. We are funded by the membership dues you pay so I do want to do my best to make sure that members are kept up to date on everything possible.
I also want to stress to everyone to go ahead and make the contact with people who are shopping for aquarium related items. Ask them if they have a salt water aquarium and tell them about your own. Let them know that the club is there and available for them, they are more than welcome to attend a meeting and see what things are all about. The leadership team can do only so much in this aspect so go out tell people we are here. I have done the exact same thing in the past and people are surprised that there is a club out there for our addiction/hobby.
Right now we are moving forward and hopefully things will get better the farther forward we move, but I do want to invite everyone back to the club past and present. I have some new ideas that I will be discussing with the other club officers as soon as possible and will do my best to bring everything up with the rest of the club members so that each and every person has the ability to put in their input and decide if it is a change they would like or dislike.
I also would like to invite anyone who needs to talk about subjects regarding club business to bring it to myself or one of the other club officer's attentions. I am available most any time of the day and can talk via e-mail, phone or instant message. I am generally a night owl so any time after 9 am till around midnight is pretty much good for me. So no matter what it is or may involve if has something to deal with the club contact one of us, something seemingly small may turn into some big changes for the club but we can't make them without hearing from the members we work for. So drop a line here on RC or get my contact info at one of the meetings.
I am currently taking volunteers for all open positions within the club. If in the past you have taken care of something and want to help the club out please contact me and let me know. I was recently contacted by Lynn and he has chosen to step down as the Frag Program director. If you are currently still handling a position and would like to continue to do so please let me know that as well.
I hope that we get to have some fun this year and we get some new faces joining us as well as some old faces coming back to join us again for the year of 2012.
Thanks,
John Gill
