Combining hyposalinity with tank transfer

I was wondering what if i do hypo for 14 days then transfer the fish to a new tank with clean water and start raising the salinity, shouldn't this take care of the ich problem and cut the hypo time in half.

IMO; TT works so well, and hypo is "iffy" (at best), why mess with it? If you do a proper TT routine, it is easy and very effective and there is no reason to use hypo at all.

I've never done TT before, I assumed it would be a little stressful to the fish, I've done hypo several times with success, Anyway in theory do you think this new method would work or not?

If I had to choose, I would use TT and skip hypo. Hypo requires a fairly high degree of precision to pull off, whereas TT is pretty straightforward. Seems like combining the two would increase the level of complexity.

Personally, I prefer Cupramine for treating ich.

No because if the salinity raised just a little bit to allow one parasite to attach to the fish right before you transfer it you've basically accomplished nothing. I have pushed fish through copper for 14 days then transfer but copper is more reliable and consistent than hypo IMO

I'm a big advocate for hypo ,,never used TT or copper so can't really comment ..
The thing with hypo is you just have to top off every 12 hours or so ,plus having a lid on the tank helps with evap..I always go to about 1.008 to give just a bit of leeway
I'm not dismissing TT or copper ,they obviously work ,, IME hypo does too ..

I have a 29 gallon QT with auto top off and a skimmer, i do 50% water change twice a week, never had any problem with ammonia or low PH during hypo, for me it's the easiest thing to do, i've done hypo several times, no problem except that it always take about 6 weeks.
I think that new method is worth trying, if done right it would the best of both worlds, 15 days in hypo instead of 30 days of and one transfer instead of 4 and new fish in your tank in 3 weeks instead of 6 weeks.

I'm currently doing hypo on a sailfin tang, I'll keep it in the QT for an additional 4 weeks just to be safe the first time around, I'll post an update for you guys.

MrTuskfish, If you say that Ich can easily be invisible for a few month, does that mean that the 4-6 weeks quarantine is pretty much pointless!!!
