Sucks!!!!! In 9 months 10 service calls 7 missed days of work. 5 new dvr boxes and still the same problem week to week no on demand doesnt work and internet drags. Any one have any advice on dish network or Direc tv

I had Dishnetwork and it sucked, Comcast sucked to they were a crap company Time Warner will get the network straightened out as they were a part of the old MediaOne (remember MediaOne) Comcast let the infrastructure fall apart, It sounds like you have a line problem in the area on the return path to the headend, which in a 2 way system will cause on demand not to work and the internet to crawl, I used to work for MediaOne and was part of the team in 98/99 that got the internet started so I know what is what, you need to call and tell them it is a line problem and they need emgineering to look at it, we had a similar problem here with comcast and I did a lot of yelling after 3 service calls and told a service tech who showed on the 4th this is a line problem leave and get some one who is knowledgeable in line problems to look into it and now not a single problem here.
I have serious problems with Comcast but they are almost history here now and things will get better with Time Warner, if need be let me know and I will rant at the fools for you

I have a tech comming over again. Good CSR rep told me I needed to calm down on my attitude tonight when I asked her if they employed blind people as the tech today didnt ring the door bell or knock. I further instructed her that they should have a class on etique. I neded to remind her that my 140.00 a month cable bill helps pay her wage. She still wasnt receptive. I asked for her supervisor and after reluctence I spoke with Jon her boss I was given Showtime and HBO free for a year. I explained to him that was a kind thing to do but it has to work first in order for that to happen. Will see how this thing pans out on Sat. Do a google search on comcast shocking info. I have a feeling its going to be the NFL sunday ticket via Direct Tv in 2 weeks. Rumor has it comcast is under contract with motorola but there's a few new issue Scientific Alantic boxes around that are the cats uh meow..

i had time warner. my digital cable and internet would go out every weekend just about and sometimes all week! we would call and they would say "our levels are low" and there was nothing to be done about it. finally after 4 calls, they ran a new line from the street into the house. that didnt fix anything. called again, they sent someone else out and i went with him to the box at the street. whoever set us up split the neighbors line because there were no more outlets in the box instead of upgrading the box to handle more houses. ( there were 5 houses on 4 lines, he finally made it so there were 5 houses on 6 lines and got an increased signal to that box) after they got that figured out, everything was fine, we just wondered why it took 5 calls and 3 visits to the house, with at least two looking at the box, to figure this out.

time warner's services are great, except the customer service!

i like dish network tv so far, had it for 2 months now since i moved. had to get massillon cable internet tho, no dsl available at the house here.

Its a crapshoot on who you get to come out and how much they care about what they do. It took 3 service calls before they got it right. Problem was when they installed the phone they damaged the cable in the ground. This guy actually dug down to the cable and respliced it. Took the poor guy an hour but he fixed it right. When you get someone who knows what they are doing, make sure to call TW and say good things about him/her. I'm sure I messed up his quota for the day.

I've had Time-Warner cable and Road Runner for about 12 yrs now (Akron was a test bed for RR) and haven't ever really had a problem with service. I have been through 3 dead HD DVR boxes. The hard drive failed on all 3. They gladly come out and replace them but I lost the shows that were on them and also had to pull the box out of the home theater system ( you know how easy it is to get all wired back up again and keep things neat)

I think Time-Warner will straighten out the problems that Comcast and Adelphia both had and make them a better service than what you had before.

One place that I worked had RoadRunner business class and everytime it rained or snowed heavy it would be so slow you might as well have dialup. They sent guys out all the time and replaced modems etc... but one day someone who cared about their job went and checked out each pole and the connections and found that one of them about 1/4 mile away was split and was allowing water to enter the cable and degrade the signal. It's no joke that you roll the dice when it comes to people caring about their jobs but it is that way in any business anymore. Sometimes you get someone who will bend over backwards to please the customer and sometimes it is a person just waiting for payday and making your life miserable in the process.

Good Luck with your quest but I would personally give the cable co. a chance. You will not like not having a cable ISP and the dish ISPs are all over $100/mo. for just internet access.

Different medium but I had a similar problem with the local phone company. Ond day my phone was dead, adn ironically the day before he downstairs neighbors had a phone installed. I called the phone company ans ws told that they would schedule me for an app. in 4 days. I tried explaining that they screwed up my phone installng the DS people's phone and I shouldn't have to wait (it was Saturday), and she kept telling me that they didn't have any appointments any sooner. To which I kept replying "thats not my problem, thats yours." After a couple minutes I askked for her supervisor who was able to get someone out in a matter of a couple hours. Long story short the bastard who installed the DS phone stole my line because there was only one live line coming to the house and he didn't feel like running a new line from the pole. Poor guy spent a good 3 hours running a new line and was peaved (putting it mildly). Then he asked the DS neighbors for a description of the guy (he recognised him) and confirmed it with the instalation receipt. His parting comments were to the effect of placing his foot where the sun don't shine and then talking to the first guy's supervisor.
