Come along, I'm starting a 24 gallon from scratch!

KAYLA! Why would you NOT tell me this! That is soooo cool! Grrrr do we need to talk missy!

BABIES!:bounce1: :bounce2: :bounce3:  :celeb1:

They are all still alive and swimming. :)

Jordo, I haven't told many people for a few reasons. I'll ttyl about it if you want. Have a good day everyone.

Kayla, very cool on the baby seahorses.

Where are they at right now and how long do they have to stay there before you can do something with them. I am also curious as to what your plans are with them? A bigger sea horse tank?

Sweet.
RJ those shrimp you are talking about, are they larger or small? I have a bunch of period sized ones swimming everywhere in my main tank and my fuge. I do have mysis swimming in there to.

Kayla how often do you feed? your mandarin is huge!
Due to my schedule i only can feed once a day.. I cube of mysis and some other food.

Thanks everyone. I must admit, this came as a complete surprise to me; I was not expecting to see 60-80 miniature horses swimming around my tank yesterday morning! But, the BBS hatched by the time I came home from school today, and I immediatley fed the babies (I'm hoping this wasn't too late). All are still alive as of this evening, but some are far more active than others. I am treating each one with great care though, because he/she just might be the one who pulls through. :)

I have the fry divided into two, 2 gallon (shallow) containers with macro algae and little flow. I will be doing frequent (daily) water changes to combat the massive amounts of food necessary as well.

If any do survive (I cannot get my hopes up just yet, which was why I was reluctant to post the news), they would not be kept with my other horses due to the potential of in-breeding.

I also saw them spawning again upon returning from school. Apparently there is no end in sight! I also thought it interesting that the male is white again; he had turned a dark brown the few preceding days. Now I have a good indicator as to whether he is pregnant! :)

In the 20g, I feed twice a day (due to the frequent food requirements of the horses), one cube of mysis per feeding. On the days the sun coral is fed, the tank gets as much as three. This is a LOT of food for such a small tank (I would never recommend this much to anyone else), but I do very frequent. large water changes, and everything has done quite well--the seahorses sure don't seem to mind.

In the 46g, where the spotted mandarin is, I feed a cube of mysis once a day at max (sometimes every other), with other foods on occasion as well. Both tanks also have an ample supply of pods, which the mandarins most likely appreciate, although both eat frozen readily.

HTH, Kayla

Thanks Kayla.

Superswimmer: They are small like the size of a pencil tip. I am not sure whether they are brine or mysis.

Tanks look good Amanda, those sea horses are amazing Kayla.

I haven't posted for awhile, been very busy with work.

Upgraded my lighting on the weekend to an Arcadia pendant, 2 x 250watt (Phoenix Hexarc 14k bulbs) very happy so far...

Its a big unit.. but I plan to put a 60" x 30" x 25" tank under it at the end of the year.

Look forward to seeing updates on your tank Amanda.

Hi everyone!!!!! It's so nice to see everyone and be back!!!

I have been MIA due to a fried Hard drive :( I lost all my videos of my 75 gallon, I"m so bummed!!!!!

Kayla, that's fantastic news on the babies!!!! Good luck and send me a couple when they are big!!!!!!

Josh, how about some recent pics of your SH set up? I haven't seen any in a long time!

Superswimmer, Awesome, simply awesome!!!! How about some close ups!!

RJ, I"m so sorry to hear about your sister in law, please take care and have a safe drive. Also, how are things coming on the new fish tank?

Dangqld, awesome upgrade!!!!!! How about some close up pics?

Amanda

Com'n Amanda... we haven't talked that LONG ago. Of course I got rid of it. I am in the depths of planning on my new tank. Something like either a 28 gallon or 40. But that wont be for another 4 or 5 months.

Yay! Today I was met agian by my new beautiful mandarin! I fed him and he gobbled up some mysis and has showed no signs of losing weigth. I really want a target mandarin, but i will settle for this guy just fine. Do you think putting a prepared food eating female with this guy (if he does well ~ 1 year from now) would be okay, or would it be pushing it?

My calcium experiment seems to be working although i need to get a testkit....iknow iknow.... my hamileda is exibiting great growth since my additions, adding about a "coin" everyday.

Currently, im working on getting $ and will purchase a Tunze Stream ($127 one) and will put some monties and pollicopora in soon.

Thanks Amanda, the new tank is just in the thought process right now as to what I may want to do. Alot is happening with my older daughter getting her license within the next month and my Son going to college this coming fall. Alot is happening and I need to look at a bunch of things before I can make a move.

It is all in the thought process and writing down what I will need to make it happen.

Amanda, good to hear from you. im sorry you lost your videos :( im really glad you are back though, now we can see what your tank looks like :D

Jordan, i didnt know you had a mantis. what kind? i have a N. Wenny, that i dont get to see too often  i have him in a 10 gallon, with all my bad hitchers from TBS and the hermits im in the process of removing from my main tank. i htink my next tank will be a hermit-less crew. well i may keep a couple of scarlets, just for diversity :D
