Come along, I'm starting a 24 gallon from scratch!

The Mustangs are H. Erectus, I guess it is there other name for them.... Mustangs

I did have a question about the fry... I do want to try to raise them someday but for now when the babies are born, what do you do with them if you are not going to try to raise them? I know this sounds stupid, but I know they don't need to be left dying in the tank to cause an ammonia spike.

Lori, I would not recommend letting them starve to death neither. There are more humane ways if you are not in the position to take the time and effort to raise them (this has been the case for me at times as well). If you know of someone locally who would be willing to raise them, that would be your best option IMO. However, rather than starvation, I would freeze them, as this is the best way that I know of--although not the greatest thought. HTH

Good about the Mustangs being H. erectus. I am often confused by IDs that are not scientific; a ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œblack seahorseââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ could be almost any species at some point in time!

Thanks Kayla... I sure don't want them to starve to death, just didn't know what one does when they are not wanting to raise the fry. I guess the answer to that would be to not get a pair and stick with one sex. I could section off the tank, but don't want to cause one to get depressed. But I don't have to worry about that right now, when the times comes I'll deal with it. And most likely, I will dive into the endevor of trying to raise the fry!

I have an order coming from Foster's & Smith today. I ordered 4 different types of macroalgaes yesterday morning and they are going to be here today... I thought that was pretty darn good. I couldn't find a place that had everything I wanted on one site. Do you know where Amanda ordered hers from?

I think I am going to order pods from SeaWater Express
George (Noni is his SN on the org) replyed to my post on Seahorse.org and said I can call him with any questions and or order thru him personally. So that made a good impression and I am willing to pay more for good customer service.

I know what you are saying about the "Black Seahorse" I have read one thing and told another.

Hey! I went to the LFS.

They had a great selection! Lots of Tort frags for 70 bucks I almost got one, but i got a Pollicopora Frag fro $15 starting out. This is my second sps. I have a porty that has grown well. I also picked up my first clam! It's a 2 inches Squamosa. Run of the mill but i still love it!

For all who are interested here are pics of my new 65g seahorse tank. The rock has been cycling for over a week now and the sand was added last night. I orded macro algaes from Foster & Smith yesterday and recieved them today. I am very pleased with my purchases...

I will be recieving some Caulerpa Prolifera in a few days that I purchased on ebay, that will add much more green to the tank. Other than some cheato, that is it for now, just going to let everything grow. I have no plans on putting any coral in the tank. Oh, I forgot, I will be getting a few pieces of Tonga branch to.

Well... enough of that...

Enjoy

HI DORI!! :) I know, but you have to love that fish, esp when it is so healthy!

Thanks RJ, I will put probably about 6 in there... I am throwing around the idea of a pair of pipes.. not sure what kind yet.

looking good Lori. i lm contemplating setting up an algae field tank, and may consider some horses or pipes. i like the natural look, and my reef i think has gone a little beyond natural :D i still love my reef, but i like different scapes and biotopes.

heres my most recent project. a little off topic, but whatta you guys think?

i need to get a few new pics up. im getting a lot of growth from the SPS on the left side of the tank. i think ive finally found the right consistency of kalkwasser for my tank.

Landon, your tanks look aweswome. Is that going to be a turtle or frog tank? I love the natural look myself that is what I am going to try to achieve with my sh tank.

thanks all!!

im going to be getting a few of these for the planted tank. they get about 3/4-1" long and have very cool breeding habits. should be pretty neet. im getting a few, so i should have a good chance at getting a pair :D

Lori, I love the tank setup. Can't wait to see the finished product--especially with the horses. :)

Landon, your tanks are awesome!

RJ, Good to see your reef still going strong!

Landon, What lights do you run again? Looking great:D

Kayla, wow they have grown, cant wait to see them in 3days:D;)

Kayla,:thumbsup:....great job with the ponies :D

Josh, thanks! i run 440w VHO and dual 250w halides. right now im running a 20k XM and a 15k XM, and to tell you the truth, i cant tell the difference. on the VHOs i switch them out occasionally. in the pic abouve i have 2 URI super actinics, and two URI actinic whites. the actinic whites are a little pinkish so every now and then i trade one out for a daylight or an extra actinic.

congrats on your trip to the states. dont have too much fun! well i take that back, do have too much fun!! :D
