Come with me on my Custom 77 Gallon setup

That's really weird. I replied to this yesterday, but the post isn't here. I must have done something wrong.

I usually place a couple of bids running up the price until I am winning. Just to see how high it will go (to see if it is worth it). Then right at the end I will put in my max offer.

Right now it is just $60, which is a serious deal. We'll see how it goes.

Nice job welding that stand up! I've done some novice welding and it sure does look sloppy compared to your pictures! Is that your father's shop?

That's what you get with TIG vs MIG welding. Cleaner, cooler, smoother.

My Dad has been TIG welding since I was about 3 or 4 years old, I'm 41 now, soooo, that's why I had him do it. Plus a lot of the welding over the last 30 years has been airplane engine mounts. Again that's why I had him do it. :D It's not what you know it's WHO you know.

I am trading my Bi-colored Angel to a guy with 3 - 1000 gallon tanks FO. and he said he would get me any fish I wanted (within reason I think) to trade. He buys wholesale.

I need a suggestion for a fish that is

1. Beautiful and interesting
2. Does not Nip at corals (reef safe)
3. will get along with the following
Maroon Clown
Sailfin Tang
six-line wrasse
Royal Gramma
Clown Goby

Any suggestions? Please I need to know by Friday.

Thanks
Keith

Like one of these. ;)

Ok, I really like that idea. But that leads to a question.

How do I get the Mandarin to eat prepared foods? Don't Six-Lines eat pods too?

Good suggestion!!

Keith

Yes, they both eat copepods. The mandarin needs them, the Six Line can eat other stuff. I have a couple of articles on my site about Mandarins.

I have two mandarins and they have not shown even the slightest interest in prepared foods of any type. So I would not count on that happening if I were you.

Do you have a refugium - sorry I'm sure it's in your thread but I can't remember... If so I would bet you'll be fine. If not, then you might want to keep an eye on the mandarin to make sure it doesn't start getting skinny looking. It will be competing with the wrasse for pods.

I would recommend a fairy wrasse. They are very peacful and active. They hide a lot for the first week, but after that they are out all the time. I have 2 in my tank and I love them. Here is a pic of my favorite of the 2:

Mandarins are very interesting but they are in the rocks a lot - they are pretty shy... At least IME

Randy,
I do have a Fuge, about 16 gallons with DSB and LR and Cheato.

Gabe,
I'm not a huge fan of the Wrasse's, except the six-line.
And I have about 60 lbs LR and 50 lb LS in the display with another 20 lb LR and 15 LS in the fuge. I am a bit worried about the pod population as well. Although I would love to have a Mandarin.
It is interesting to see people disagree with Marc.:D

Any other suggestions?

My reccomendation is 2 Orange Lined Cardinal's or 3 even better if you think your tank can handle the load. Here.
It will be a slow school, short bus if you know what I mean  , but safety in numbers.

I think you could support a mandarin in there. Just get a healthy one and make sure it doesn't start looking skinny...

I am thinking about. I sure would love to have one. I am going to put in some pod hills tonight (LR rubble in piles).

I may get some extra pods from Oceanpods just to boost the levels in the pod hills.

Mandarin is a beautiful fish. I'd love to keep one in my tank if I knew it'll have enough pods to eat. I have a 10 gallon fuge myself with chaeto and not-so deep (2"-3") sandbed.

I do not know how they are around corals but I have a lawnmower blenny that is cool to watch and contsantly cleaning the rocks. I don't know if your maroon would let it perch if the blenny gets in its territory though. A note on bioload though with a blenny - mine appears to poop light green logs every day - to the delight of the bistleworms, so they do add load to the tank.

Well, I lost the bid for the dosing pump on ebay. 10 seconds to go, I put in my max bid of $120 and it bounces back with "you've be out bid" $122.50. But for $122.50 almost worth buying a new one. Oh, well. Obvioously some guy was sitting here at 5:50 am just like me. :D

The same seller has more of them next chance is five days away.

I think that I am going to go with the Mandarin. I am ordering some extra pods and going to use a pipette to inject them into the pod pile.
