coming back to life

I had a really bad alkalinity spike a few months ago, my frags have been coloring up the past month. My water is now stable. What is the best way to glue this acro? I was thinking about gluing it sideways on the dead area to give it more surface area or should I leave it be. The die off has stopped so I really don't want to frag it anymore than I already have.

I think putting it side ways like you suggested would be a good idea. I have done this before under similar circumstances with success. You would hopefully be able to eliminate the algae that looks to be growing on the dead part in the process which will only help.

Update on placing the coral horizontal on the frag plug, I am now a firm believer in this. It's been two months and has tripled in size and is encrusting nicely.
