Comline 3110 noise level

Hi. I would like to hear opinions about the noise level from the Comline 3110 protein skimmer. I have used 6 other skimmers before and none have really satisfied my needs. 3 of them are airstone driven and are very quiet but the airstones clog up every month. The other 3 are venturi based (Bakpak, Remora, and Precision Marine) and were all too noisy for the bedroom. Is the Comline 3110 going to be quieter than these 3 and slightly noisier than the airstone driven skimmers?

It should be the quietest of all if properly installed and probably at least equally powerful to the best of them. I get a lot of positive feedback on this model.

Roger, I've had the skimmer running for 2 days now and its starting to produce skimmate. I'm very impressived with the low noise. This skimmer definitely won't keep me up at night. Its the quietest waterpump driven skimmer I've used and it also seems quieter than the airpumps that I was using.

I have a question about a certain instruction in the manual. In the Initial Operation section, it says to "Completely close the air regulating screw and subsequently unscrew by three turns again. " Now, does "3 turns" mean 3 cranks of my wrist or does it mean 3 complete (360 degrees) revolutions?

I'll take a guess and say a turn means 360 degrees, as everyone's wrist will be different, so the results would vary tremendously otherwise, and Tunze is all about accuracy.

Yes, 3 360degree turns. The reason for this procedure is that if you start with it open the pump will get air trapped in it and be noisy, so you start closed and then open the skimmer venturi. 2.5-3 turns is generally the correct position.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. That is actually how I did it but I wanted to make sure.
