Commensal shrimps

Ive been reading about some commensals and would like to hear some personal experiences such as: do they need a anenome or can the be hosted on larger coral/s such as big colonies?

Which shrimp are you looking at? Many commensal animals don't need their better half, but that doesn't always mean every one of them doesn't. Give us a little more detail in what you are looking at getting and we can move from there.

Im leaning more towards sexy shrimps however we can also order the venustus from time to time.

Sexy Shrimp are SLUTS! They will associate with anything. Anemones, mushrooms, softies.
They also do fine without a host.
Get a bunch, they're small.

Since they are commensals, should I make sure there is enough hosts to go around since part of their food is predetation of the host itself albiet lowlevel picking?
