Communication: Chat - PM - Email

i believe i do.

i dont know that it will be a problem either way...

i think the wall posting would be nice, w/ the rich media stuffs... and cries for help..

the discussion area is pretty lame from what iv seen..

I would ratherhave everyones phone number for cries for help than splitting discussions between sites which eventually is going to happen. I am glad that people are brainstorming for the club, I just really don't agree with this. I don't wwant to have to go around and check three or four sites just to see if theres different posts, I already do that enough (youtube, RC, ************, Itunes,) It would be a perfect time to have a way to vote.

I don't think having a FB group is a bad idea. The wall can be used for announcements, meetings and the like and as a pointer to point people here.

Lets just not get to where we have to go hunting for things on multiple sites.

Ok,here's a thought. If say we EVER haha choose a logo for our club, and say make shirts for example. The shirtswould have our log on the front, maybe something like our handle on here on the back, and the below that at the bottom or on the sleeve a main site where people can find us. Then we would be like walking advertisements for our group. The main thing is we don't want to have reefcentral to be the website on the sleeve because the webaddress to get here is so long. It needs to be something simple. Facebook is pretty simple and it could host a direct link to our forum here, however since reggie has offered to host a website if we could get a name like appalachianreefsociety.com it would be much easier to remember, we wouldn't have to worry about copyrights, and it is much more obvious when advertising on say a shirt or card, or whatever, and it's more professional looking than having a card that says facebook.com/appalachianreefsociety. I may be wrong, let me know what you all think.

Eventually a static site would be in order for the club. That's a given. I think we need to keep the "forum" discussions here. We also will want to look at a chat room as some time too for informal online get togethers.

And I can't reply to all carb so B.

I like the idea. I'd buy one if we really spent some time fine tuning the logo. (BTW, I really do like your start). I know a few graphic artist but I don't know how interested they would be in helping out. I can always ask.

Putting individualized usernames would be a lot of cost and probably unnecessary. Just print up a standard design in a few sizes. I have no idea how much it might cost to have 20-25 shirts printed up.

This could be a good way to raise a little money for the club too if that was desired by everyone. Have the club itself get $5 per shirt or something. Although, we would need the by-laws and a lot of other things in place before that happened. I still think it should be a goal.

People aren't going to pay for these shirts besides us. My idea was to have the shirts be a form of getting others who don't know theres a local club to knowing there is a local club. These shirts are jus an advertisement, at this point we shouldn't be worried about club money. I know a place that can print shirts for about 8 bucks a piece if you get 20 or more. The idea of my post wasn't as much about the shirts as it was the fact that REGGIE ALREADY SAID HE WOULD HOST A SITE. appalachianreefsociety.com is a lot better than facebook.com/appalachianreefsociety, and also if reggie can't host the site for some reason I will and we can make it a lot more flexible than a facebook page witha direct link to our forums here on RC.

Agreed

At this point meaning today, I agree.

That sounds more than reasonable. With 20 there would be extra's if new members might want them down the road. Right now, we probably couldn't sell more than 10 total.

The site is an amazing offer. Certainly if we ever did get shirts it would be a much cleaner address to list.

I don't think we should be worrying about t-shirts yet either. I love the idea but not right now as you stated about not worrying about money right now.

One Example Timeline.

First is to concentrate on by-laws. Once we get those established maybe elect some officers. Hopefully by that time we can get a fine tuned logo. Then we could decide as a club about the shirts.

One thought.
Even if you could print up shirts tomorrow, your not going to sell 20. So if you can sell 8, someone is going to have to eat the cost of the other 12. I think a great way would be to use club funds which are generated by membership to buy 20 @ $8 a piece. Then sell them for $12 a piece (for example). This would keep any one person from eating the cost of the extra's plus a way to generate some money for the club in addition to the advertising.

We have a good group of people already (not just the people which showed up at the meeting). It would be nice to grow the membership base, but that will come in time. People will find us and we will find better ways of advertising. Once we get our foundation laid we might be a more attractive group for people to want to join.

I agree with all the above, As for my vote I vote A not to ahve another site like facebook, and we should ahve one like appalachianreefsociety.com somethign professional and do it right.

I can get shirts, one color print, for about 8-10. I know a guy. If you guys want, I'll get an actual quote. Let me know.

that idea was really just an idea for advertisement from me. Not being cool in your ars shirt, haha. walking ads are the best.

(Later, down the road idea.)
How about getting one with a paid membership?
We gain a member and free advertisement!
