Just discovered this thread, and like most people here, I'm hooked! Can't wait to see the tank filled, stairs finished, room painted, fence built...... You're truly an inspiration. I've got a laundry list of projects around the house that my wife want me to finish before I can think about my basement tank room concept. One day... :)

Here's the treads (and rails and newel post) after 1 coat stain, light sanding 2nd coat stain, light sanding, 1 coat poly, steel wool, 2nd coat poly.

I still have a couple more coats of paint to apply, and actually install the risers and treads but here is how it will look by the weekend (just in place right now, not actually attached).

Here's what the spindles will attached to (again, it still needs to be cut and installed but it gives you an idea).

And the other side (again the trim is just sitting there to give you an idea of final product).

What do you mean "done by the weekend?" Aren't you done yet?! {voice=Officer Hightower voice} We need this massive tank full of salt water now Mister!! {/voice} :D

Sorry, no water can go in the tank until the basement has passed final inspection, so you should be stoked the last step is just about done. ;)

Stairs are done (other than railing and banister which will go in next week), tank is leveled, foam is sprayed, skimmer is here, 2 of 3 light setups are here...

Here's a couple pics...
Skimmer, and IceCap 660 ballasts (2) in the cabinet

You can see all the wiring in the cabinet

And for size, I'll need to take the collection cup off just to get it in there. ;)

I threw 2 T-5's on top for grins, and just 2 bulbs light the tank nicely, I can't wait to see what 4 overdriven bulbs look like!!!

need to get that railing and stuff done, you might fall down the stairs, with nothing to hold to,and delay the tank build ;)

lookin good man.

i think your tank is giving us a strip tease though  not sure how the mods are going to intepret that :D j/k

how do you like the icecap endcaps? i just set my icecap 660 and really liked the whole product.....
