Computer nerds.....assemble!

So can I just get any 350w power supply. It would have to be the same configuration as he one I have to fit it back in the tower. I.e. fan on back vs top.

Is there a model or type I should be looking for based on the sticker info in the pic above?

Your computer you said was about 10 yrs old right? If so its probably alot of the old connections. This would probably work fine. If your missing one connection you can easily go to to the store and pick up an adapter to put on a molex cord to turn it into the connector you need. Power supplies are pretty standard, with the only change really is the actually connectors at the end of the wires on a few of the cords and some being modular(you pick only the cords you need and connect them to your PSU. The old ones have that giant cluster f of wires coming out the back.

computer is from probably 08 or 09 if it makes a difference.

This reason i asked when it was from is because newer computers use different connections to run them to the mother board. Most older computers you will see them not using sata connectors to attach things to the motherboard. Now most addon stuff like cd drives blu ray drives, harddrives all have sata connectors. This has everything you would need for a basic replacement. Is a larger PCU, 400watt power vs the 350 but has any connection you would need from a factory built computer and then some. I still wouldnt purchase a PSU though until you walkedthrough the steps i mentioned an eliminated anything else in your case.

I have a 305 Watt power supply that will most likely work. The only issue I see is that the 24pin connector cord is very short.

I will stop by the office on my way home to pick it up. Did you add any special cards in your PC or is it just stock? Like a super duper video card or anything like that?

If you want a brand new one here are a few links

I have the power supply with me, but the 24 pin cord is super short. I sent you a pm with my contact info.

I would def take sweet up on the offer to test his 305 watt first. It would be able to power it up and if it does and it runs you could say it was the psu. But I personally wouldn't buy anything that wasn't name brand, from a reputable site, with a warranty, reviewed by others and put into my case. But if you trust running 10amps to 15 amps thru it go for it. Best case scenario it works, worst case it shorts and fry's your motherboard and components.

Hey, no! I sincerely appreciate your efforts. You around this weekend? I'm pretty slammed till Sat/Sun.

Do you keep SPS?

Eric, merci beaucoup for stopping by and helping us out! Let me know if those frags need replacing or if you ever want any more. They're on me!

The problem is the 24 pin connector cord is too short and the power supply can't be mounted in the case. There is also no power available for the SATA CD-Rom since it only has two SATA power connector in Series. I used it for the HDD.

We may be scrapping some computers here at work in the next few weeks. I'll keep you in mind Cully. Does it need an extra 4 pin connector for the on board video?
