Conch Snails burying themselves?

We have some nasarius snails and I know they bury themselves and clean the sand out nice, but why do conch snails bury themselves? I've read somewhere, that someone said its when they are "growing"? Just curious love our conch snails, so fun to watch!

There hiding from predators, or there looking for food down below.

My fighting conch goes under for weeks at a time. I got a DSB and I guess he loves being down there. Eventually I see him for a week or so, then he's gone again for weeks at a time. Kinda sucks, I may get another one, or a tigertail for some more sand duty cleaning!

get a strawberry conch, mine always stayed on the sand and did an awesome job...

have two fighting conchs and they also disappear in the deep sand for weeks at a time.
