Frogspawn and hammers are euphyllia corals and do absorb calcium to help build their coral skeleton. Typically, a tank without any corals will have good calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium levels if timely water changes have been performed because nothing is really absorbing it. But if I were you, I would invest in those test kits before you start investing in the coral. My tank kept up decent levels for a long time without dosing but eventually you will have enough corals with stony skeletons that water changes won't keep up with the demand. So the answer is "yes" your water should be perfect. Tell us more about your set up when asking for advice so that people can give you more informed answers. Depth and size of your tank would help for starters. Go ahead and get those nitrates down to zero if you can.
