i just bought one and he is moving all over the place. do these things ever stop and seat or do they always move around? will the kill my xenias or button polyps if they come into contact? should i get rid of him? also, i bought him for my clown to host but now i read that they are rarely hosts. does anyone in here have a clown that hosts a condy? please help before he causes any damage

Get that thing the hell out of there! It will move around and kill everything in its path until it finds a place that it likes.

I have one in my tank that has not moved in six months. Not to say that it won't eventually, but so far so good. There was a mushroom on the rock that I sat him on, it got zapped. Other than that, all has been fine. I'd try to get him onto a piece of live rock with a lot of depressions. Mine sits in a bit of a hole, and seems fine. Don't know about the clown, good luck!

you flushed him? thats sad.
i have a condy in my tank that i bought without doing that much reading about care, then learned that theyre not as easy to keep as the store led me to believe. anyway, ive had it about 4 months and it has only moved twice, both were times when i reworked all of the rockwork in the tank and i suppose that upset it.

as far as hosting, i have a tomato clown that hosts in my condy. it is a tank raised clown, idk how much impact that has but ive read and been told that tank raised dont know better than to try and host in them. it works well and gets a lot of compliments. but apparently the condy is from the caribbean where there are no native clown species so its not natural for them to be hosted.

i have a condy it moved alot for the first few months, maybe 1-2 times a week... it has sat in the same spot now for 2 weeks, so i think it might have found its happy spot. it hosts my tomato clown, the tomato went in it the first 30mins i put the condy in and still does....
my tomato tryed to make some long hair algae its host though. so i assume it depends on the fish -=X

dont flush it, take it back to the store if you can and get a bta.

edit: oops just looked at the date of his last post, it is sad if you did flush it, considering anemones are thought to be able to live forever in good conditions and nothing killing it like yourself.

I also hope you didn't flush him. I've had one in the same place for several years with no problem. Along with 12 other anemones.

I think they are a good beginner anemone, but are not supposed to host clowns, Mine hosts a large female clarkii. I suppose that's because the nem is about 16" and clarkii is about 4".

I did notice that your tank is pretty new. You should wait until the tank is seasoned for 6-8 months before adding any anemone. I know it's hard to wait, but patience is the name of the game in saltwater. Another good beginner nem is a bubble tip. They will host a number of different clownfish.

Good luck.
