Condy v. powerhead

First fatality?

Well, it had to happen sooner or later. I woke up this morning to find my condy slurped into a powerhead. I'm giving him a little while to make sure, but it doesn't look good. No ammonia in the DT, fortunately.

Within about 20 minutes of turning off the powerhead, the condy seems to be bouncing back a bit. His tentacles had drawn in completely, but they are starting to puff back out. He's still attached to the intake screen from the powerhead, but I'm hoping he will work himself free--I tried gentle massage to no avail.

He is a hardy specimen, so I'm not giving up just yet. Any words of wisdom from someone who has been down this road?

Just keep your water clean. Do a larger water change today and then a smaller one tomorrow. If The foot or mouth didn't get damaged it has a chance of recovering. Tge best thing to do now is let it work itself out and keep your water clean. Oh run your skimmer too

yea thats not good man...I had a carpet do this, and I pulled it from tank and had to get a sharp knife and free the powerhead...it was too big of a risk of crashing tank for me...run carbon, and change it out in the morning as well as doing water change asap...and if you've got a bunch of very expensive stuff its sad to say but condy's are not that expensive I'd consider pulling it

I swear this thing is suicidal. After my first post I pulled the condy and enough water for a hospital tank. 2 birds--water change and toxin isolation--1 stone. He did free himself while I was away, but then went for a walk...right into the intake for the power filter I was using for circulation and carbon. It was on the lowest setting and had a sponge installed over the intake, but he wriggled his foot in between the intake tube and the sponge and got sucked in foot first.

So I cut the intake off of him and am waiting to see if he bounces back. Again. I'm less optimistic this time, though. His foot was nicely pinched and he is all but inside out. The tips of his tentacles are turning bright green, radiating in toward the body. No smell yet, but we'll see.

Much to my surprise, this little guy is recovering beautifully. He's back in the DT and seems to have really taken off since being restored to his clarkii clown tankmate. He's eating and filling back out nicely.
