cone skimmer

Why do cone skimmers perform better than traditional skimmers? Is it the bubble plate combined with the shape?

If you use the search feature, you'll find several threads asking this same question.

The main reason the cone is a "better" shape for a skimmer is because it allows a slower, smoother transition for the foam, and also because it makes the water level inside the skimmer lower, thereby reducing head pressure the pump is working against.
