Called ecotech about a xr30 gen 2 pro im having a problem with, the guy kept telling me to send it in and they would evaluate it, told me first thing that the parts for the gen 2 are not being manufactured any more as the gen 2 isent being offerd anymore, that part i understand, the part i dont understand is he said that if my light isent repairable they would offer me a new gen 4 at a discount, and the price would depend on whats salvagable from my light, this is where im confused, if the light isent being offerd, made, or refurbished for cheaper sales then why would you even need or want parts from my light, wish someone would help me understand this

I don't have a definitive answer, since I cannot speak for them. But from what you have relayed, it seems to me that they may be salvaging parts from non-functioning lights to repair other non-functioning lights.

In other words, you send your light in for repairs. They look through the other lights they have taken in on trade and pull parts from those lights to repair yours. But in the chance that the parts you need are not available from the lights they have on hand. They provide you with a discount on a new light that equates to the trade-in value of your old light. Then they take the light they received from you and add it to the parts recycling bin.

But again, this is all just conjecture on my part. But if it is true, that is fairly good customer service by trying to work with someone like that.
