from what i've read, they are good skimmers. could use a lot of electricity and generated a lot of heat & noise, of course, this is subjective.
if you're in a high energy rate area, you may want to go with a good needlewheel. if not, go for it.

ok but how does it make the bubbles?
They use a venturi injector but it's not standard. It's their own design, non clogging. The water is pumped through the venturi injector and then down a tube (almost like a downdraft) into the mixing box. They require a fairly large pump but not as large as a beckett or even a downdraft skimmer. If you use a high pressure rated pump, a smaller pump than recommended (in terms of GPH) works great.

I'm not too wild about the mag pumps, I wanted a submersible pump and the mag 12 was a popular choice for the 5C. I use a Blueline 40HD-X (same as pan world I think) for my return and it is a much better pump. I've read that when using a pressure rated pump, you need to use one that is rated at a lower GPH than a non-pressure rated pump. So far, I'm very happy with my choice on the Bermuda.

here is an interesting comparison with a bermuda to a euroreef es5. the sedra 3500 uses something like 30 watts and the bermuda hob is hooked up to a 35 watt mag 3. these two skimmers are on my 110g reef.
the bermuda shows one day of skimmate (please no comments on how wet my skimmate is...this is how i skim. please, no 'my skimmer does super dry' etc etc...i will repeat that i set all my skimmers to skim really WET. it is intentional) while the er es5 has about three days worth in its cup.
can i set the bermuda to skim dry? yes, very easily in fact with its interesting gate 'trap door' (you have to see it to understand it on this hob) but i like my skimmate very wet (almost to the point of watery).

this is an indirect way for me to do partial water changes. my main tank skims out two gallons per day. thus, over a month, i change out 60 gallons (this is only a fraction of my regular water changes which totals 70 gallons per week or 280 gallons per month).

so are these skimmers quiet?
It seems as if they are less noisy than others.
since I will put my skimmer in my in stand sump on my 90g, I am looking for quietness when I get that going.
my bakpak2r on my 35g is LOUD, sometimes too darn loud.
a skimmer that uses more electricity but is very quiet is worth it to me

Sure, I'll post some pics when I can.
Ive had the skimmer probably 3 weeks. The pump is a Blueline 40HD which is pressure rated, 790 GPH. It's throttles down quite a bit with a gate valve. Skimmer also runs fine on a Blueline 30HD, also had to be throttled down but just a little bit.
These skimmers go through an easy break-in. Not a whole lot of overskimming and fiddling with water level. Skimmed right away, within a few minutes of set up started pulling crap out, not just clear water. I havent fine tuned it all the way yet. Still have it skimming a little bit wet. But it's not a finiky skimmer at all. It starts skimming quickly after you clean the collection cup and neck. It's east to clean. Skims consistenly when the neck and cup get a bit dirty between cleanings. It's great as far as set and forget. Mine is running external to the sump.
