Confused on clam placement

I have my clam (sqamosa) resting on a abalone shell on my sand bed. It keeps rocking over to one side and doesnt get light on its side.

Should the clam actualy be pushed into the sand alittle? I thought the idea was to keep sand away from the lower port. Right now the shell is resting on the sand and there is no sand touching the clam.

I can get a pic but its not gonna be clear at all.

I got a free 55g acrylic and it looks like it was free. Its scratched up really bad, but hey its a fuge and its free.

So Ill get around to taking pics if its needed.

But all I want to really know is that if its okay to dig the sucker into the sand, possibly even have sand touching the port on the underside of the clam.

Does anyone eles name thier clams??? I named mine "***** Galore" from the 007 movies
