My tank parameters have been in check for some time now and colors are still not great. My new growth seems to grow with fantastic colors, but the rest of the body is brownish. My lighting schedule is as follows. 2 24w atinics 11am-9pm, 2 24w midday 12pm to 8pm, and MH 250 phoenix 1pm to 7pm. Any ideas?

Have you checked your phosphates with a Hanna monitor? I've found phosphate test kits to be horrible.

I have Checked po4 with Hanna and it usually reads .03. As for bioload I have 11 fish in a 130 gallon. 2 of them are tAngs.

^+1 Best colors are on the new growth. Depending on which specific coral it is, the base may very well be brownish.

have you checked the K levels ? potassium ?

I'm batteling the same, colors are good, but not PERFECT lol

potassium has helped me get a bit more color.

Also, it could be due to trace elements and heavy metals ! for example if you have Iron in your water, green color of SPS are supposed to show more. Iodine for yellow I think and so on. (something I have read, never tried it, but I do dose trace elements weekly and the corals look better the day after I dose it !

My K level last time i checked (two months ago) was 450. Alittle high I think so I stopped dosing it. I add AA every week. Haven't seen much of a difference from that either. I have great flow, good filtration, and good lighting to my knowledge. My montis have good color but my acro looked much better in the other persons tank that I got them from. lol....
