I have a G.stokesi that I have had for around 8 months. Initially I placed it in the sand, making the usual amateur mistake. It was also near to a GBTA and as they both expanded they ended up touching and stinging each other, ,from which the goni lost a few polyps. I rearranged the rockwork and moved the goni halfway up the tank, having discovered that it had a "scar" underneath. The problem I have now is that a quarter of the polyps all around the lower edge have died, and there is a small patch of die off, 4-5 polyps, near the top of the coral. But the polyps that remain show amazing extention, I feed them every other day on cyclopeeze and mysis, which they consume very quickly and with great vigour, even mysis that look too big are just wolfed down. There are many new polyps growing from the healthy tissue but no regrowth is evident on the dead parts. I dose Kent iron and calcium, use tropic marine salt, Am, NA, NI and PO all at or near 0, pH is a little low at 8.0 but that's always been the case in my tank for some reason. Salinity is kept at 1.025/26 and the temp at 80f. They only reason I could assume is that i have a pair of common clowns, one of which hosts both the goni and the GBTA as the mood takes him. I have no coral bothering fish (clown goby, hi fin goby, mandarin) The lighting is 159w of T5.
