Confusion on praziquantel dosing.

I noticed that there is some misinformation on dosing with prazi using national fish pharmacy products.
1) The Praz-Tastic retail products does not mention dissolving in vodka. But upon calling them, yes you have to. No problem here just simply forgot to print this critical info.
2) Dosing amount and strength. Big problems here. Praz-Tastic is 10g per 455 gallons, every day for a min of 10 days. While bulk praziquantel on their website suggests 25g per 2377 gallon or 10g for 950 gallons. Dose one time and leave in water for 5-7 days. Ok, so you say it the strengths are different, they said no, same stuff from the same 25 kilo container. If you follow Praz-Tastic recommendation on a 100 gallon tank for 14 days, you will have added 30.8 g total, while using praziquantel (same stuff) you would add it twice in 14 days for a total of 2.1 grams.

The person who I spoke with at NFP said not to follow the recommended dosing on the bulk praziquantel but rather follow the Praz-Tastic, except add the dissolve with vodka to it.

The pricing between the two products makes as little sense as the dosing misinformation but that's a different topic.

My questions are simple. Which is right and which is wrong. Most people recommend dosing every 4-5 days while the person at NFP said you have to dose it daily or else you are wasting your time. Not sure if I can believe him since the misinformation is so blatant. Not trying to bash them, but common.

Info from experienced ichthyologists would be awesome.

How big is your tank? Because what you are trying to do only makes sense if you have a really large system. Otherwise, my suggestion is just use Prazipro and be done with it. It sounds like dissolving praziquantel, and then figuring out the correct dosage is more trouble than it's worth. A $12 bottle of Prazipro treats 480 gallons, and does all that for you.

Our system is 1300 gallons. More important is to clear up the confusion on dosing Praz-Tastic and praziuantel. Do you dose daily or every 5-7 days and which dosage. I do not like PraziPro as it turns our system milky cloudy after 2-3 days.

FWIW; the same thing happens (sometimes) when I use Prazipro in my QTs, and I was enlightened by another poster as to why. Prazipro contains ethanol, which fuels bacteria growth and cloudy water. The same thing will likely happen when you mix praziquantel with vodka. This bacterial bloom depletes the water of O2, so you have to increase gas exchange when using Prazi (good idea when using any medication IMO). The good news is the water usually clears after a few days.

Not sure if PraziPro has ethanol, it does have Oxybispropanol, but the result may be the same, bacterial bloom. When I use vodka (60-80ml) to dissolve the praziuantel, I do not get any cloudiness. But with PraziPro, I really mean almost like milk.

Be very careful with using vodka and praziquental. I dissolved Prazi in vodka and ended up with such a large bacterial bloom it killed one of my fish. This wasn't the first time I had dosed it in this solution. I only used about 1/8 tsp of vodka in a 10 gal QT. A local marine biologist told me he uses isopropyl alcohol to dissolve Prazi.
